Started training with Lou in January thinking I’d live out my gym life safely on the first floor, casually pretending cardio was enough. The upstairs? With the machines and weights? That was for other people.
Enter Lou — PT, weight wizard, and expert in not telling me how heavy the weights really were (sneaky, but smart).
Fast forward: I’m lifting, sweating, and somehow enjoying it? Tuesdays became therapy with dumbbells. She figured me out fast — from my meal skipping to my dramatic “I can’t do this” energy — and fixed me bit by bit.
Now I drink water (from a comically large bottle), track my meals, understand that weight gain isn’t evil (hello, muscles), and kind of like myself a lot more.
She’s not just a PT — she became much more motivating in a way that really works tracking managing and really pushing.

After starting a busy new job, I wanted to make my health and well-being a priority. My goal was to establish a consistent fitness routine and enhance my knowledge and confidence in the gym. I approached Lou because as a menopausal woman, I wanted primarily to increase my strength, since I know this is really an important to avoid conditions such as osteoporosis. Never having had much upper body strength I was also keen to improve my general day-to-day ability.
Lou is a great instructor, she explains things clearly and is really encouraging. She pushed me just the right amount so that I felt a real sense of achievement and never became disheartened.
I loved every one of our sessions and found that they were good for my mental as well as physical health. And as a side effect I have been pleased to see my muscles becoming visibly more toned. Moreover, I now have the confidence to visit the gym and use the machines and weights by myself, which I never would have done before!

Having struggled with my health and fitness for years, I tried to 'fix it myself' but got completely lost in the overwhelming amount of nonsense online. I realised I needed the support of a PT but was really anxious about how this would interact with my difficult relationship with food and mental health.
I am exceptionally glad to have found Lou as she honestly just 'gets it'. She cares deeply about her clients and I always feel safe and supported in our sessions. We can have a proper laugh but she is also not afraid to help with the difficult things that come up. She goes out of her way to take a holistic view and will often signpost me towards useful evidence-based resources as I need them.
Lou has now introduced a new nutrition package that somehow takes away all the nonsense around nutrition information online and distils it into manageable steps, as well as considering your personal relationship with food and mental health. It seems like simple stuff but I'm almost embarrassed to admit I've had several big revelations during this course and it has completely changed my approach to eating.
I am stronger, have more energy, and am somehow losing weight without being hungry. Lou has taken me from a stubborn sceptic to the sort of meal-prepping, gym-enjoying, protein-loader that I used to roll my eyes at!
