Take a break

Since I started up my blog earlier this year I haven’t taken a break from it. It’s been non-stop planning, writing, and creating content to ensure I stay consistent and build my platform. From the outside looking in may not seem like a lot but it takes time and a lot of effort to make it a success.

I’m the kind of person who can get carried away with minute details and ends up working myself into the ground trying to accomplish all the goals and targets I set myself. Otherwise, I can get irritable when I feel like I’ve left something unfinished or whatever it is I’m working on isn’t quite right.

Something I had to learn very quickly from being sat staring at my phone or laptop for hours on end when I am working on content is to take regular breaks. Taking regular breaks helps to boost performance. Studies have found that short and frequent breaks can reduce or prevent stress and increase productivity throughout the day.

Detaching from the work you are doing and taking a short break to either eat a snack or meal, go for a walk or speak to another human can help reset the brain and overall mood and inspire more creativity. By doing any of the above I usually find that if I’ve hit a mental wall a break helps give me a different perspective so that I can elevate my ideas further.

Planning a relaxing break like a trip away or allocating some time off of work to relax and recharge your body and brain facilitates recovery. I recently took a trip to London which became the inspiration and reason I’m writing this particular blog post. For me to be able to enjoy my trip away, I had to put my work to the back of my mind to switch off from everything and enjoy my time off.

For all of those hours, you dedicate to hustling and working hard to be successful remember you equally require a certain amount of dedicated time to take a break.
